 Questions 24 and 25 -Ezekiel's Temple Vision
If the Reader is a Pre-Trib Pastor, you've Pondered a multitude of questions about there being a future Temple with Sacrificial System. Trying to place Ezekiel's Temple into a Millennial Kingdom may seem acceptable in a surface reading, but can it be?. The issues are not only animal sacrificing.  How about Millennial Priests? Will the Priests have wives, will some of them die? Who'll be the Prince or Governor of Israel? Will it really be David? Will he be mortal again? Will David need to offer sacrifices for his sins? Will he have more children? The Ponderable Questions go on and on.

The Bible says the Temple Ezekiel described in his prophecy cannot be a Millennial Temple. After Jesus died, the, "Sacrifice and Oblation was to cease" (Dan.9:27). The function of Ezekiel's Temple was to center around Animal Sacrifice. The Bible says  the need for Animal Sacrifices ended with Jesus' Death (See Heb.10)! There are dozens of  facts showing it impossible for Ezekiel's vision to be a Millennial Temple. In a moment we'll examine 10 Scriptures proving this.

Animal Sacrifice in the Millennium?
"And in the porch of the gate [of the temple] were two tables on this side... on which to slay the burnt offering and the sin offering and the trespass offering" (Ezek.40:39).
Hebrews 10 and many other Scriptures, declare there'll NEVER be animal sacrifices after Jesus died!
Ezekiel's Temple – Old Testament or Millennial?
The last 8 chapters of Ezekiel are a vision of a magnificent Temple. A Pillar Pre-Trib doctrine says this Temple will be built in Jerusalem during the Great Tribulation so that the Jews will have their worship center during a Millennial Kingdom here on earth. Even a casual reading of Ezekiel's vision reveals that the Temple could exist and function only before Jesus died.
Return From Babylonian Captivity
The Temple Ezekiel described was to be built immediately after the Jews returned from Babylon. It would have been the greatest wonder the world had ever seen, if the Jews had obeyed God and followed His plan. 

Un-Known and Un-Knowable
We must stop here for a moment and do a reality check. We stand firm on the Bible fact that the Temple Ezekiel saw in vision can be no other than an Old Testament Temple, period. As we proceed, the Bible facts will be clear. However, Ezekiel saw some things that we readily admit are difficult to understand and explain. As we look at these things, we must offer two possibilities. Either God gave Ezekiel a little passing glimpse inside New Jerusalem, or, the Temple God designed for Israel after they returned from Babylon would have been one of the greatest wonders of the world, Again, whatever the case, Ezekiel's Temple was to be in service before Jesus died. Following is the reason we take this position:

River of Life and Tree of Life?
Ezekiel saw a spring with, "healing waters" issuing from under the Temple (See Ezk.47:1-9). He saw a river surrounded by miraculous fruit trees bearing, "different fruit each month" (Vs.12). The leaves of the trees would have healing properties. As mentioned above, Ezekiel's descriptions sound like what John saw in New Jerusalem. These two parts of Ezekiel's vision are a glimpse of New Jerusalem, or, God has some very great plans for Israel at that time. It appears possible that this Temple, the water, the trees, and most especially the Jews living righteous lives, could have demonstrated to the world how God would bless all who loved Him and lived in accordance with His Law. It could be that God offered a glorious opportunity for the Jewish Nation, an opportunity to evangelize the entire world. We'll never know because, sadly, instead of cooperating with God, the Jews continued in their stiff-necked ways.

What About Us Today?
Today God is offering His people the opportunity to prove to the world the power available to those choosing obedience, but, like Israel, we are not willing to be obedient. Instead we are too busy inventing ways to be disobedient!! An example is the fact that almost all of Christianity declares, "Grace frees us from obedience to God's Law."

Back from the Babylonian Captivity
When it was time for the Jews to leave Babylon and return to Jerusalem, all Jews should have made the journey, but only a very few returned. Even these Jews  piddled diddled around and eventually built a mere shadow of the Temple Ezekiel prophesied. They piddled around spiritually also, quickly adopting the heathen practices of the nations around them (See Ezra 9:1-2). They married heathen women from those nations, and soon began drifting back into the same disobedience to God's Law that had previously destroyed their nation (See Ezra 10:2).

Like today's modern Christianity, they chose to disregard the Sabbath Commandment. They began buying and selling goods from heathen merchants on the Sabbath! They harvested crops and operated their wine presses on the Sabbath (See Ezra 10:31; Neh.13:15-21). So it is today! Malls, Department Stores, and Grocery Stores sell more merchandise on Saturday than the rest of the week combined. All Christian Preachers know that Satan inspired those Jewish leaders to disregard the Sabbath when they returned from Babylon. Does Sabbath abolishing come from the same source today?

God needed the Jews to be shining lights to the rest of the world so that all could see how He blesses those who love Him and obey Him. God needs us today for the same reason! The Jews, like Christians today, wanted to be like the rest of the world. Over 400 years passed from the time they left Babylon until Jesus’ birth. During this time they ran the gambit from one extreme to the other! In the beginning they were hyper liberals, ignoring all of God's Laws and plans for them. By the time Jesus began His ministry, they pretended to be strictly obeying every aspect of God's Laws and Bi-Laws. But they weren't really. Their actions showed they were still disregarding God completely by turning His Laws into opportunities to flaunt themselves as, "Holier Than the Rest!" As history reveals, they were self righteous hyper critical hypocrites!  They had no regard for God's Law, and showed themselves to be murderous liberals!

No Sinners or No Mortals Will Be In God's Kingdom - NONE
Every function of Ezekiel's Temple is centered around Sinners and Animal Sacrifice! Scripture says there’ll be no sinners or mortals in God’s Kingdom. Jesus said, "Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted and become as little children, ye shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven" (Matt. 18:3).

"Verily, verily I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God" (Jn.3:3).
Paul wrote, "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the Kingdom of God? Be not deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the Kingdom of God" (1Cor. 6:9-10).
"Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, drunkenness, revelings, and the like; of which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they that do such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God" (Gal.5:19-21).

"Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood [mortals] cannot inherit the Kingdom of God; neither corruption inherit incorruption (1Cor.15:50). "For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality" (Vs.53).

Scripture says, "Only born again" people will ever see the Kingdom! No "unconverted" persons, no "unrighteous" persons, no "sinners"; none of these will inherit, enter, or even see the Kingdom of God.

Almost all Pre-Trib Promoters disagree! They say ALL who enter the Millennial Kingdom, the Kingdom of God, are mortals. They say the Kingdom of God will be a Millennial (1000 Year) Kingdom here on Earth specifically for the Jews. The official position of Pre-Trib says that the Jews, who are in charge of God's Kingdom, are ALL mortals and that ALL of the other nations will be Gentiles still in their mortal bodies. In fairness we will say that there are some Pre-Tribbers that say there will be Immortals mixed in with the Mortals in the Kingdom, some even being in positions of running the Kingdom. This portion of Pre-Trib Promoters say the "Church" people that were Raptured and given Immortality will be those in charge of the Millennial Kingdom on Earth. These Pre-Tribbers have not realized that their version self-destructs their whole reason for claiming there'll be a 1000 year Kingdom here on earth, which is supposed to be the time the JEWS receive their Old Testament promise of being the Nation in charge of all nations in the world. This "self-destruct" problem pretty much reflects all Pre-Trib Doctrines.

Pre-Trib says there'll be enough sinners in the God's Kingdom for Satan to gather an army "the number of whom is as the sands of the sea!" Satan will have that army at the end of the 1000 years, but it WILL NOT, CANNOT, come from those living in Christ's Kingdom. The army will be Gog and Magog, but not one soldier in Satan's army will even see inside God's Kingdom; NOT ONE!! There is a VERY Clear Bible explanation as to where Satan's army comes from. Priests in Ezekiel's Temple
A Cornerstone of the Pre-Trib Rapture Theory is founded on Ezekiel’s Temple being the Temple in an earthly Millennial Kingdom. But John saw also saw a Temple in a vision! John said clearly that the Temple he saw would actually exist during a 1000 year time period. But John saw that temple in HEAVEN, not here on earth. He describes it in Revelation.

Priests in John's Temple
First let’s see what John said about, "Priests" who, "reign with Christ a 1000 years." Pre-Trib says mortals will inherit the Kingdom. As to the Priests in the Millennial Kingdom Pre-Trib says will be here on earth, Pre-Trib says ONLY Mortals from the Tribe of Levi, specifically from the descendants of the Levi Priest, Zadok will become Priests in the Temple. But, John saw Priests reigning with Jesus who were NOT Mortals, because they’d been beheaded for refusing the Mark of the Beast! Obviously these people were alive on earth during the Tribulation, but were killed! The Priests John saw will be in their immortal resurrected bodies! This fact is a double crushing blow to Pre-Trib! John said the Priests he saw were killed during the Tribulation and were resurrected in the First Resurrection! Pre-Trib says the First Resurrection will occur BEFORE the Tribulation. Add this Un-Answerable Question to the fact that Pre-Trib says the Millennial Priests will all be mortals, and it is clear that Pre-Trib MUST revise their Millennial Temple Interpretation!

Are John’s Temple and Ezekiel’s Temple the Same?
Study Text #1—Rev.20:4-6 "And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them; and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and who had not worshipped the Beast (Antichrist), neither his image, neither had received his Mark in their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead [lost wicked] lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection; on such the second death hath no power, but they [those in the first resurrection - those raised AFTER being killed by Antichrist] shall be Priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years."

These Millennial Priests come from people killed during the Tribulation. They are raised from the dead at the FIRST RESURRECTION.

If the reader is well versed in Pre-Trib, he or she is aware that the above two facts destroy a massive pillar of the Pre-Trib Theory. If the First Resurrection includes persons dying during the Tribulation for opposing Antichrist, obviously the First Resurrection CANNOT happen before the Tribulation and before Antichrist. Pre-Trib says the, "First Resurrection" happens before Antichrist and before the Tribulation, exactly the opposite of what John said!

John's Priests are not mortals, but Ezekiel's Priests are mortals. Let's look closer:
First – The Priests John saw had been "Beheaded."
The Priests Ezekiel saw ARE mortals. We'll give proof in a moment.

Obviously Ezekiel and John saw different Temples—one before Jesus died, the other after the "First Resurrection."

Second – John’s Priests are from, "EVERY kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation" (Rev.5:9-10).

Ezekiel’s Temple Priests are ONLY from the Tribe of Levi, specifically descendants of Zadok (Ezek.40:46, 44:15). These are Different Temples from Different Times.

Animal Sacrifice in the Millennium?
Study Text #2—Ezek.40:39 "And in the porch of the gate [of the temple] were two tables on this side... on which to slay the burnt offering and the sin offering and the trespass offering."
There are no legitimate sacrificial offerings after the cross (See Hebrews 10). Ezekiel details slaying animal offerings. Ezekiel’s Temple was one of many conditional prophecies and promises made to Israel, the fulfillment of which could occur ONLY if Israel was obedient to God.

Priests from ALL Nations!
Study Text #3—REVELATION 5:9-10 "And they sang a new song,...For Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by Thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth." We covered this, but Ezekiel adds details: "Thus saith the Lord God: No stranger (foreigner), uncircumcised in heart, or uncircumcised in flesh, shall enter into My sanctuary, of any stranger that is among the children of Israel" (Ez.44:9). "But the priests, the Levites the sons of Zadok, who kept the charge of My sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from Me, they shall come near to Me to minister unto Me, and they shall stand before Me to offer unto Me the fat and the blood, saith the Lord God" (Ez.44:15).

Ezekiel's Temple has ONLY Levites, sons of Zadok, none from "every kindred, tongue, and nation." Different Temples for different times.

Ezekiel's Priests Drink Wine and Marry Women
Study Text #4—Ez.44:21-22 "Neither shall any priest drink wine when they enter into the inner court. Neither shall they take for their wives a widow, nor her that is put away [divorced], but they shall take maidens of the seed of the house of Israel, or a widow that had a priest before."
Ezekiel’s priests were warned not to drink fermented wine. Resurrected persons are not tempted to drink forbidden beverages. Different Temples for Different Times.
Ezekiel’s priests are instructed concerning marriage, but resurrected people don't marry. "For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like the angels of God in heaven" (Matt.22:30).

Ezekiel’s priests die and leave widows. Resurrected people don't die or leave widows! Different Temples for a different time.

King David Prince in Ezekiel’s Temple?
Study Text #5—Ez.46:16 "Thus saith the Lord God: If the prince give a gift unto any of his sons, the inheritance of it shall be their possession by inheritance." The Theory says this "Prince" will be King David himself. David died, thus, to be the King of this Earthly Millennial Jewish Nation, he'd have to be resurrected. Will God give him some kind of special resurrection in which he’ll return to his mortal body? Will David bear more children? The Prince Ezekiel saw was to have sons grow up and receive inheritance.

Actually, there's a puzzling question here. Ezekiel actually did indicate that David would be the Prince during the time of Israel’s glorious Temple (See Ezk.37:25). Ezekiel was speaking of David’s descendants. God promised David that through his descendants the Messiah would come, which He did (See Matt.1:1-17). We'll have more on this in a moment.

David - Don't Steal From His People?
Study Text #6—Ez.46:18 "Moreover, the prince shall not take of the peoples inheritance by oppression, to thrust them out of their possession… that My people be not scattered, every man from his possession."
In his mortal body David obviously needed this advice! He killed a man and stole his wife! But, would he need this counsel after he's resurrected? Of course not?

David Kill Sin Offering for Himself?
Study Text #7—Ez.45:22 "And upon that day shall the Prince prepare for himself and for all the people of the land a bullock for a sin offering." No sin offering will ever be needed after Jesus’ death—certainly not from David in his Resurrected body!

Jews With Slaves in the Kingdom of God?
Study Text #8—Ez.46:17 "But if he [the Prince] give a gift of his inheritance to one of his servants [slaves], then it shall be his to the year of liberty." The King James translators were kind. The Hebrew word is "ebed" and means "bondage, bondman, bond servant". The word cannot be translated as a paid employee. Pre-Trib says the Millennium is a time for Jews to have revenge on the nations who’ve oppressed them. But, Pre-Trib has a dilemma. It says that those who oppressed the Jews will be cast into everlasting punishment at the beginning of the Millennial Kingdom. If so, the only people, or nations, left during the Millennium will be those who befriended and protected Jews. Are we to believe the Jews will make slaves of the very people who protected them from Antichrist? Would King David, after his resurrection, make slaves of any people? Is it time for a Reality Check? We must defend Pre-Trib somewhat, however. Note the following:

Pillar Pre-Trib Rapture Theory Text
"For the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land; and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob. And the peoples shall take them, and bring them to their place; and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the Lord for servants and handmaids. And they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors" (Isa.14:1-2). If we did not have New Testament Scripture clearly defining the Kingdom of God, we might need to include the above in future events. But, later prophecies always clear up details about former prophecies, especially when some prophecies are CONDITIONAL. The above Scripture fits perfectly in Old Testament times, but NOT after the Second Coming of Jesus. If people or nations are granted entrance into a Millennial Kingdom solely because they defended and protected the Jews, these same Jews would never turn on their friends, oppressing them or making slaves of them. If, however, God elevated them to the World's ruling nation in Old Testament times, or even during Jesus' ministry, then the picture fits, but certainly NOT after Jesus' Second Coming.

Mentally Impaired People in God's Kingdom?
Study Text #9—Ez.45:20 "And so thou shalt do the seventh day of the month, for everyone that erreth, and for him that is simple (mentally slow); so shall ye reconcile the house". The Theory says people in an Earthly Millennial Kingdom are healthy enough to live a 1000 years. If God grants good health to those in this Kingdom, surly He'd give good mental health to everyone. Would God have a person live a 1000 years mentally impaired?

There are obstacles Pre-Trib must overcome if Ezekiel's Temple is the Millennial Temple. We must choose! Do we arrange our Theories according to Scripture, or the other way around?

The Bible Truth About Ezekiel’s Temple
God gave Ezekiel a glimpse of what should've been and could've been, if the Jews had been faithful after returning from Babylon. They were to build a glorious Temple in Jerusalem to be the Evangelistic Center of the world. But, the Jews stubbornly did things their own way, a lot like we do today.

Jesus' Church was to spread the Gospel to the whole world—show the world the power He offers to those wanting to be overcomers—those truly wanting to reflect Jesus' character. Instead almost all Churches are saying, "Grace frees us from obeying God's Law." Instead of preparing for the Tribulation just before Jesus’ Second Coming, most Churches are fast adopting Doctrines and Theories declaring that we’ll be "Raptured Away" to Heaven before the Tribulation.

Who is REALLY the Prince in Ezekiel Vision?
"In that day, saith the Lord of hosts; will I make thee, O Zerubbabel, My servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the Lord, and will make thee a signet; for I have chosen thee, saith the Lord of hosts" (Hag.2:23). A "signet" is a symbol of royal authority. Zerubbabel was a descendant of David and the first leader of Israel after the Babylonian captivity. He was in charge of rebuilding the Temple, thus he was the Prince prophesied by Ezekiel. The Temple Zerubbabel rebuilt could've been, and should've been, the Temple in Ezekiel’s vision, but it wasn't because the Jews didn't take the promise seriously. Their spiritual deficiency made it impossible for Zerubbabel to fulfill Ezekiel’s vision. Half-hazardness, lukewarmness, slipshoddiness, were key tools for Satan in those days and these tools serve him very well today also.

If we accept the Biblical explanation that the Prince was Zerubbabel and afterwards his descendants, it makes perfect sense. It always does when we let the Bible say what it says, and be its own interpreter. The Bible is very clear, as long as we don't revise, reverse, rearrange, or ignore Scripture.

New Heaven and New Earth
Study Text # 10—Rev.21:1
"And I saw a New Heaven and a New Earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no more sea."
"For, behold, I create New Heavens and a New Earth, and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind" (Isa.65:17).

"For as the New Heaven and New Earth, which I will make, shall remain before Me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain" (Isa.66:22).

"Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for a New Heavens and a New Earth, in which dwelleth righteousness" (2Pet.3:13).
Destroying this Earth and creating a New Earth doesn't fit Pre-Trib. It says earth will be paradise during the Millennium, and mankind will build beautiful cities and fabulous homes during the 1000 years.

Why would God turn earth into Paradise for a 1000 years, then destroy it all? He wouldn’t. The Kingdom of God is not a TEMPORARY Earthly Kingdom!?! It's not going to happen. Jesus' Kingdom is an EVERLASTING KINGDOM! There'll be a Kingdom on earth during the Millennium, but it'll be Satan and his demons roaming around in the carnage left by the 7 Last Plagues. Earth will be a filthy, demolished dump with billions of stinking dead bodies lying everywhere (See Isa.34:3; Jer. 25:33). See "Satan's Millennial Kingdom."

A famous Pre-Trib TV preacher emphatically declares every week that this earth will never be destroyed. Scripture says it will! Who do we believe? See "Will Planet Earth Ever Be Destroyed?"

Would Jesus Occupy Antichrist's Temple?
We will close with a Question. We've covered more that sufficient evidence already in this Blogsite to show that the Temple Ezekiel saw in vision cannot be a Temple used during a time after Christ's Second Coming. But, there is one more question to consider. According to Pre-Trib, the Temple in Jerusalem will be built because Antichrist will give the Jews permission to do so in the form of a Covenant. Would Jesus use a Temple built under these conditions. Would He have any connection to anything Antichrist did. The Bible is all too clear that there'll be no Paradise Kingdom here on earth, but if Jesus were going to set up such a Kingdom, He would not use any Temple built because of any Covenant between Antichrist and unbelieving Jews. If such a Kingdom occurred, Jesus would have it built by believing, Christian Jews who had defeated Antichrist, not made any kind of agreement with him.

Conclusion
Scripture says there'll be a Kingdom of God during the Millennium, but Scripture is very clear that Christ's Kingdom does not end after a thousand years! It is FOREVER!! In our Bligsite titled, Christ's Millennial Kingdom we examine where Bible prophecy says this Kingdom will be located. Satan has a Millennial Kingdom at the same time. His is here on earth. It's called his Bottomless Pit! See Satan's Earthly Millennial Kingdom.

Paul said, "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither hath entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him" (1 Cor.2:9). A Kingdom located in New Jerusalem would truly be beyond our imagination. A Kingdom here on earth with mortals and sinners is easy to imagine. Jesus said He's coming to "take us to His Father's House" (see Jn.14:1-3). He Will!!
Why has Jesus not come to take His people to Heaven? He implied that some of His Disciples would live to see Him come back. See Why Jesus Waits. Be sure also to see The Power of the New Covenant.
